Literary Analysis "All The Pretty Horses"

1) The story was about three boys who seemed to ride the ride of trying to discover the answers to there "big  questions". The story starts with two boys riding around the open range on horses, when the two boys come across a third boy, a convict, is when there problems begin. Once the police recover the horse stealing, murder convict, they kill him. Sending the other two to jail. When the main characters friend is killed in jail is when u see him change, it brings out a different, more fight for survival personality. Once he gets out of jail, he loses track of time, and trays to sell a rifle to a police officer, ending him again in a situation in which he explains his situation, to gain his freedom again, which he does.
2) Theme seems to be, the people you meet in life may cause you problems, but they help you on a journey to find who you truly are.
3)The others tone seems to mostly be change of heart. Meaning a type of serenity or kindness. When the two boys finally decide to let the convict in there group and ride with them. The three boys begin to bond and develope a relationship, when the convict is being dragged away to be killed he tosses the other two boys his boot with a lot of money in it, and in the end where the main character takes the horse back to the person who the convict stole it from.
4) The other used tone, when the convict gave the two boys the boot with the money in it, it showed the kind tone of the convict. The other used setting, characters road there horses in an open plain area where, to me, it symbolized the amount of knowledge they seemed together on the horses. The author also uses conflict, the beginning conflict with the convict and two boys to help described there initial beginning personality with later change. He used characterization, describing the characters in different way, from different view, to emphasize certain areas of the character that change more then other parts of their personality.

1) Direct characterization was shown when the author described why the horses were important to the main character, they were important to his grandpa, and when he passed away they took on a new purpose for him, and when the author showed the real side of the convict, he started out seeming great, and trust worthy, but once he was arrested, his actual background was revealed. Indirect characterization was displayed in showing the two boys at the beginning of the story, how untrustworthy they were of people they didn't know by rejecting the convict for a while, and at the end of the story when the main character was more sympathetic and happy to be alive, by fighting in the courtroom to not be convicted, and returning the kids stolen horse.
2) The author keeps a constant syntax and diction when explaining character. He mostly changed tone in order to developed a personality of each character.
3) The main character was dynamic, and round, he completely changed from a rebel, type "I walk alone" type kid, to a kind, forgiving,  and happy to be a live kid who is respectful, slightly sad for his passing of friends, but is ready to developed a new him.
4) I felt like I had actually met someone. I relate to what the main character was searching for, a way to answer all his bigger questions in life, and watching him change, and find himself happy with changing how he did, made me feel like I connected with the character.
